This is a review article of a miscellaneous volume concerning Ludovico Marracci, a relevant figure in 17th century Roman curia and an eminent orientalist, author of the first accurate translation of the Koran from Arabic into a European language (Latin). The volume presents many new documents and an innovative overview concerning this scholar, who is to be considered among the founders of modern Arabic studies.
